It must be the season for them. Last week Myk was lucky enough to see three Whalesharks – two on the same dive not to mention dolphins playing just off the wall. Take a look at this beautiful creature!

Flower Beach Divers were pleased to take the first group of the season over to Camiguin for the day. Our 5am start gave us the chance to see the sunrise from the boat as we ate our breakfast on board. We made the crossing in around two and a half hours and after a quick break on land we went straight for our two dives at Old Volcano and White Island.
The recent rain had left the visibility a little dark but we found Old Volcano full of small interesting critters including bent stick pipefish and leaf scorpionfish. White Island vis was much better and we loved the nice medium strong current, perfect for a drift dive. After a yummy lunch at Camiguin Action Geckos we just had time for a quick island tour including the Katibawasan Waterfalls & Ardent Hot Springs before getting back on board for the journey home. We pulled up outside Flower Beach just as the sun was setting.
A long day but fantastic fun and thanks to our guests Peter, Tanya, Helmut, Reinhardt, Iris and Jan for a great day and to Michele and Uli in Camiguin for their help organizing everything.
Flower Beach Divers are happy to arrange one night safaris and day trips to Camiguin, Panglao and Leyte on board our big Banca, Flower 8. Contact us at dive@flower-beach.com for details.

We often see Whalesharks around here. We have a couple of residents who swim around but its usually a far off fin or a big black shape swimming away. Last sighting was in October near Virgen when Myk managed to catch a few moments with one as it swam out to the blue. On 22 November our guests were treated to a rare sight.
We were coming back from a dive at Paradise Gardens (and the dive had been fantastic) when the boat crew all started shouting. We turned and saw, not far off, a black fin in the water so out boat captain, Cirillo, swung the boat round to get closer. I jumped in first to check it was safe and then the guests followed. Not only did the whaleshark not swim away, it circled us several times as curious of us as we were of it. We swam with this amazing creature for around 15 minutes before it slowly took itself back out to sea.
It is hard to describe how amazing a sight this is so here’s a few random words to give you an idea: awesome, huge, graceful, cute, magnificent.

If you used to dive with Abyss Divers and are wondering who this Flower Beach Divers are don’t worry…its just a name change. Everything else is the same. The dive shop is in the same place and most importantly, we still have the beer bell.
As of November 2010 we became a PADI resort and for various dull administrative reasons it makes sense for the dive shop to have the same name as the resort.
Flower Beach Divers offers great dive trips, a flexible attitude in putting the customer first and fun PADI courses.
